The Nhurali Pendant has been designed in collaboration with Barkindji woman, Lily Bennett. The name Nhurali was chosen by Lily, and means ancestors in Barkindji language. Lily finds connection to her background and ancestry through her traditional paintings. The Nhurali Pendant came to life in collaboration with Lily, as she created an artwork which was inspired by the 2022 National Reconciliation Week theme – Be brave, make change. We transformed this through traditional hand-engraving onto an exclusive pendant which acts as an abstract interpretation of this theme.
When approaching the expansion of our beloved Golden Wattle design motif, a reverence for the land, and its spiritual, physical, social, and cultural connection to First Nations Australians, remained our guiding influence. With 25% of sale proceeds donated to Lily’s charity of choice, Gunawirra a community-led not-for-profit that works closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families, children, and communities to reach their full potential.
